Trump Calls Relatives of Injured Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.
He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
White House Call
The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump addressed the press. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”
Public Support
Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Government Revisions
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy led the administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop providing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she also intended to visit his relatives.
Impact of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
