R360 League Recruits Hit With 10-Season Exclusion from Australia's Rugby League
The athlete earned 20 international appearances for the All Blacks before changing loyalty to Samoa.
The NRL's administration has declared that players who join the “rebel” R360 will be barred for 10 seasons.
The proposed competition, scheduled to begin in 2026, is aiming to attract athletes from both codes with substantial agreements and a condensed fixture list.
Leading rugby league athletes have reportedly received offers by R360, which will feature six to eight men's clubs and four women's teams based in large metropolitan areas worldwide.
Samoa's the player, who plays for the Warriors in the competition, has stated he has had talks with R360.
Ryan Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Haas and Jye Gray are also said to be thinking about signing the rebel league.
Several leading union countries, among them Australia, last week declared a ban on athletes signing with R360 participating in international matches.
“We've listened to our teams and we've taken firm action,” stated the league's chairman the official.
“Regrettably, there will persistently exist organizations that attempt to hijack our sport for potential financial gain.
“They fail to contribute in pathways or the advancement of players. They only leverage the hard work of existing bodies, jeopardizing careers of economic hardship while benefiting financially.
“They are, in reality, counterfeiting a code.”
The league is co-founded by ex-England star Tindall and backed by independent financiers.
Following the possible union prohibitions were revealed earlier, it said: “We seek to cooperate in partnership as integrated into the global rugby calendar.
“The event is designed with customized calendars for both genders and we will allow all athletes for international matches, as included in their deals.”
The breakaway group will seek approval for its initiatives from the international authority, the sport's regulatory group, at its council meeting in 2026.
